One reason you may not be able to book and schedule certain kinds of visits is that the provider requires you to have an initial consultation (free) before agreeing to take you as a client. The visits allow everyone to be sure it’s a good fit, and to confirm the care plan. Once you have met, you’ll have a 48 hour window to reserve care with that provider. Beyond that window, the doula’s availability is subject to change.

We like to be sure that everyone is confirmed before we put an appointment into the calendar. The pending status should disappear and you should get a final confirmation within 24 hours of the initial appointment scheduling.

We recommend confirming for postpartum support services by 27 weeks of pregnancy. For labor support, connecting as early as you can allows you to have the benefits of support sooner. Doula care has been associated with a reduction in preterm births, and low birth weight, as well as higher apgars, reduced cesareans, and shortened duration of labor. The early support can make a difference!
